Environmental Commitment

Renewal by Andersen of North Carolina is dedicated to providing remarkable solutions for the most common energy concerns and environmental challenges we face. Let’s look at just a few that we have a hand in solving.

  1. Renewing Existing Housing
  2. Improving Indoor Air Quality
  3. Use of Smart Materials
  4. Energy Conservation
  5. Extended Product Lifecycles

Renewing Existing Housing

Renewal by Andersen® has replaced more than 2,000,000 windows in over 300,000 homes.

Andersen-central-NC-ProcessThis is tremendously significant if you consider the energy savings and environmental impact of each individual window.

Not many people know that the average home uses much more energy and contributes to more carbon emissions than the average automobile.* Improving home energy efficiency benefits property values, neighborhood sustainability, and keeps older homes desirable longer.

Taking the time to replace inefficient windows and doors will help reduce your energy consumption, which means comfort for your family and a nice padding for your pocketbook.

Andersen Corporation® wasn’t just creating the first window replacement company when it founded Renewal by Andersen®. To succeed, they had to commit to expert installation and superior customer service.

Indoor Air Quality

Both Andersen Corporation and its replacement division, Renewal by Andersen® have received the Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Advantage Gold certification, and are the only window companies to do so. This accreditation is the highest standard for indoor air emissions in the United States and lives up to the California Section 01350 Specifications.
Andersen Corporation and its subsidiary, Renewal by Andersen, has been honored as Energy Star Partner of the year for four consecutive years.

Energy Star LogoSubstandard indoor air quality is among the top five health hazards in America. The majority of us will spend close to 90% of our lives inside where toxins enter the air through a process called off-gassing where building materials release toxins via evaporation. This process continues for years after installation for some products including vinyl windows, which means the air that you breathe day and night is constantly infused with harmful chemicals. The only thing you should breathe after replacing your windows is FRESH AIR.

Energy Savings

If every window in the U.S was as energy efficient as Andersen Windows®, Green Seal estimates that Americans would save as much as 200 gallons of oil per household every year. This is equivalent to 2.5% of the annual U.S energy consumption!

Smart Materials – Leadership in Reusing and Reclaiming Materials

Fibrex® Frames

Renewal by Andersen® windows have more SCS certified recycled content than any window replacement company.

Our Fibrex® material sash and frames consist of 40% reclaimed wood fiber by weight. Fibrex® provides the strength and insulation of wood combined with the maintenance-free benefits of vinyl. They never require painting and they preclude cracking, pitting, corroding, and rotting.*

We reclaim most of our wood fiber from the wood manufacturing facilities of Andersen® Corporation in Bayport, Minnesota.

High-Performance Low-E4® SmartSun Glass

High-Performance Low-E4® SmartSun glass consists of a minimum of 12% reclaimed glass by weight.

High-Performance Low-E4® SmartSun glass comes standard on all Renewal by Andersen® Windows in Central North Carolina and has an innovative coating to reduce water spots up to 99% when activated by sunlight. In addition to providing a better view and making cleaning easier, our glass also helps prevent harmful UV rays from entering your home and reduce sound pollution from outside.

* See the Renewal by Andersen® 20/2/10 limited warranty for details.
** Exterior only, when activated by sunlight.

Smart Use of Energy

The Energy Information Agency (EIA) predicted a stunning 36% increase in residential use of heating oil and a 23% price increase for natural gases. Windows are the single most controllable variable in a home’s heating budget every year, aside from simply shutting off all temperature control. In fact, up to 40% of your annual heating and cooling costs can be tied directly to the windows in a home according to the U.S Department of Energy.

* Our most recent glass option, High-Performance™ Low-E4® SmartSun™ glass is our most energy efficient glass to date. It is 70% more efficient in the summer than normal dual pane glass and 45% more energy efficient in the winter. **

Long Product Lifecycles

In the United States, construction waste is a major contributor to the growth of landfills. Renewal by Andersen® replaces windows that are less than 10 years old every day. By choosing a product that is built to endure a lifetime of seasons and exposure to weather is one of the most effective ways to limit unnecessary landfill waste. Our products have an extended life-cycle with one of the strongest warranties on the market.

You could be in store for another costly replacement project just a few years down the road if you opt for saving a few dollars in the short term, but with Renewal by Andersen®, you will have the peace of mind that comes from knowing your new windows will last for many years to come.
